AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Event slated for youths interested in learning rodeo

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Junior Rodeo Association is hosting a free event at the Clallam County Fairgrounds rodeo arena at 1608 W. 16th St. in Port Angeles from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 2.

The event is for youth and their families who are interested in learning more about the sports of rodeo. The event will include a meet and greet, an overview of upcoming activities, including mounted practices, and membership information.

Also included will be an introduction and hands-on demonstration of different rodeo events such as goat tying and roping. All youth will have an opportunity to try their hands at various events that will be set up in the rodeo arena.

This is an unmounted event, so people are asked not to bring horses or stock animals. They are free to bring along any rodeo equipment such as rope. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

People can visit PJRA’s website at www.tinyurl.com/PJRAWebsite or visit the PJRA Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Rodeo.for.our.kids/ for more information.
