PC women remain No. 1

The undefeated Peninsula College women’s soccer team remained the No. 1-ranked junior college team in the nation in a poll released Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the men are ranked No. 4 nationally by the United Soccer Coaches Association among division II junior colleges.

The women, 11-0-0 overall, are also No. 1 in the NWAC. They were No. 1 in the previous national poll released Oct. 8.

The women finish their regular season Oct. 30 at second-place Bellevue, looking to finish their season perfect. They will get to host an NWAC quarterfinal game on Nov. 9.

Despite remaining unbeaten, the men dropped one spot from No. 3 on Oct. 8 to No. 4 in Tuesday’s poll. The Pirates did have a 3-3 tie last week against Everett, but remain No. 1 in the NWAC and the North Region champion at 12-0-1.

The men wrap up their home season at noon Saturday against Shoreline and then host a playoff game on Nov. 9.

Two other NWAC men’s teams made the national rankings. Walla Walla (12-2-3) is ranked No. 9 and Skagit Valley No. 13 (9-5-0). Peninsula beat Skagit Valley twice this season, 4-0 and 2-1.
