LETTER: Want to distinguish what’s profanity? Here’s how

I go by what my mother taught me in pre-adolescence 65 years ago.

Although lawyers may find it difficult, most people have no trouble discerning profanity.

A textbook I read in English 101 stated that the use of profanity “adds power” to the statement.

What I prefer is wisdom I learned as a pre-teenager from my mother more than 65 years ago.

She told me that the use of profanity only indicates a lack of vocabulary by the individual trying to communicate.

Thanks, Mom!

Port Angeles
