Wooden Boat Wednesday talk in Port Townsend to launch book’s anniversary edition

PORT TOWNSEND — Herb Payson will be launching the 35th anniversary edition of Blown Away at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St., at noon Wednesday as part of the monthly Wooden Boat Wednesday series.

Payson’s story is of his voyaging with his wife and four teenage children onboard a less-than-ideal but lovable wooden ketch.

Blown Away is being reissued with a foreword by Lin Pardey, a new epilogue by Payson titled “How Cruising on Sea Foam Changed Our Family” and photographs to help readers picture the characters and places Payson describes.

Payson will be joined at Wooden Boat Wednesday by his co-adventurer/wife, Nancy, as they share memories of many years of voyaging.

A light coffee and cookie reception will follow.
