Woman flown to hospital after collision on Highway 19

CHIMACUM — One woman was flown to a Seattle hospital and three others were taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital after a vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with another vehicle, the State Patrol said.

Susana Cabrera-Mariz, 35, of Port Townsend was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry southbound on state Highway 19 at milepost 6 about 12:33 p.m. Saturday when she crossed the center line and struck a 2021 Nissan Armada, the State Patrol said.

The Camry came to rest on the southbound right shoulder while the Armada stopped in the northbound ditch, the State Patrol said.

Mariz was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was in satisfactory condition on Monday afternoon, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.

The State Patrol suspected drugs or alcohol to be involved, according to the collision memo.

The driver of the Armada, Dani Bruyn, 44, of Oakland, Calif., was transported to Jefferson Healthcare in addition to Fredi Juni, 72, of Berkeley, Calif., and a 9-year-old boy, both of whom were passengers in the Armada.

All involved were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.

Both vehicles were taken to the State Patrol bullpen in Port Angeles for potential evidence, the State Patrol said.
