Woman, 51, accused of luring, threatening children at Port Angeles park

PORT ANGELES — A woman who is accused of threatening children and telling them to get into her car will be arraigned today in Clallam County Superior Court.

Tammy L. Brown, 51, is charged with five counts of luring, five counts of making threats to kill and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Brown allegedly drove drunk to Jessie Webster Park at about 6 p.m. Tuesday and told five “small children” that she was with Child Protective Services and they needed to get into her car, according to a police probable cause statement.

The children told police she had made threats that she was going to kill them and their families, the police report said.

During an interview with police, Brown denied making threats but said she had used profane language with the children because she was concerned for their well-being.

Shortly after a man reported the incident to police, Brown had phoned 9-1-1 saying, while “slurring her words heavily,” that children may be calling in her license plate number, according to the probable cause statement.

She told a dispatcher that she noticed several small children unsupervised and believed there were several teens smoking marijuana.

The children told police that she approached them unprovoked.
