PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Fire Department came to the rescue when a passerby discovered a female deer stuck between two fence posts in downtown Monday.
The doe appeared to have attempted to jump through the gap between fence posts at the intersection of Marine Drive and Front Street, but it’s hips couldn’t make it through.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to separate the posts, letting the deer run free.
Port Angeles Officer Kyle Cooper said a passerby first reported the deer at about 11:45 p.m. and the deer was free by 12:30 p.m.
“Never have I seen anything like that,” he said.
Cooper said the deer appeared mostly unharmed, with minor skin injuries.
