West End: Sci-fi thriller won’t shoot in Forks

Forks won’t be the location of the upcoming 20th Century Fox film “Solaris,” according to local consultant Rick Hert.

“It is important to note we did everything right,” said Hert, the former visitor and convention bureau chief who helped bring “The Hunted” to Port Angeles last winter.

“They liked our area, but the director had a change of vision and decided to go someplace else.”

The studio considered the Forks area for the science-fiction thriller starring George Clooney because of the frequent rain, overcast skies and an article published last summer in Farmers Almanac about Quillayute Prairie Airport.
