PORT ANGELES — Here’s how you can try wood carving with a world-class carver or study wildflowers with a national expert: Register for summer or autumn study at Olympic Park Institute.
The institute is a private, nonprofit organization that conducts classes and programs in and around Olympic National Park.
Most of the courses are held at Rosemary Lodge on Lake Crescent, although the institute also offers seminars in the Olympic backcountry and 20 miles offshore in the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary.
More than 35 courses will be offered summer and fall, Anna Manildi, Olympic Park Institute’s program manager, said.
Manildi is also executive director of the three-day Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts which begins Friday in Port Angeles.
