FORKS — The Healthy Forests Initiative will be the topic of the next public forum at Olympic Natural Resources Center.
The forum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. April 9 at the Resources Center’s Hemlock Forest Conference Room, 1444 S. Forks Ave.
The initiative, backed by the Bush Administration, calls for thinning of federal forests to “reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires, restore forest health and protect communities.”
The plan expedites the review process, but does not provide geographic or tree-diameter restrictions.
