LAPUSH — Quileute tribal and Forks officials have joined forces to provide Christmas to needy children.
A fund-raiser Dec. 4, dubbed “The Healing Circle,” is the first combined fund-raiser for the tribe and city.
“Christmas time is about coming together,” said Sharron Penn, Quileute tribe youth advocate. “With unemployment the way it is out here, it is necessary to raise money to help out. It is great we can pull together to do this.”
The event will be held at A-Ka-Lat Center, located just off state Highway 110 on Ravens Crest Road, beginning at 11 a.m.
The fund-raiser will feature various food booths — including traditionally prepared seafood and fry bread from the tribe and food from Forks-based restaurants.
Tickets will be sold at the door and people can pick and choose what they want to eat, Penn said.
