NEAH BAY — A fisherman was hospitalized Wednesday night after Coast Guard crews transported him to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
Mark Strong, 35, of Port Angeles, was listed in stable condition, hospital officials said.
A Coast Guard cutter and helicopter were dispatched to transport Strong after a crewman aboard the trawler Perwyn found him unconscious on the deck of the vessel, which was located about 15 miles west of Cape Alava.
According to Coast Guard Lt. Mark Hiigel, the cause of Strong’s condition was unknown, Hiigel said. He didn’t appear to have any physical injuries.
The cutter Cuttyhunk was on patrol and close enough to respond, Hiigel said. And a Daulphin helicopter from Port Angeles was in Neah Bay doing small boat training when the call came in.
