FORKS — The city’s mayor hopes that the closing of the city’s only full-fledged building supply business will be a temporary loss — one that owner Guy Decker blames on a “rotten economy.”
“The economy in Forks stinks, and I have been sinking money into it for six years and I just said ‘no more,”‘ Decker said Sunday at Forks Building Supply, which he has owned for 30 years.
The business, which has operated in Forks for 51 years, was open Sunday for its close-out sale, and will remain open “until it is bare.”
Decker said he believes that could take about two months, but in any event it will be closed before the rainy season begins.
