West End 9-1-1 service out today

FORKS — CenturyLink reported an outage of land-line-based 9-1-1 and some general phone service over land lines Wednesday afternoon in Clallam County’s West End and the Clearwater area south of Forks in Jefferson County.

Karl Hatton, Peninsula Communications Director for Clallam and Jefferson counties, said at 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon that the disruption began at about noon Wednesday.

A CenturyLink spokeswoman said in an email at 3:30 p.m. that she had no information about an outage.

The outage affected at least Forks proper and south of the city, Hatton said.

Callers who need emergency services on Clallam County’s West End during the outage should text “911” and include the address, or try calling 360-374-5234.

Callers who need emergency services in the Clearwater area of Jefferson County, they should text “911” or try calling 360-344-9779.

Peninsula Communications will post updates on its Facebook page, he said.

“We do not have any estimate on repair, or how wide-spread the issue is at this time,” Hatton said.
