PORT ANGELES — Anne Rutherford, a storyteller known throughout the West and the two-time winner of the Liars’ Contest at Seattle’s Folklife Festival, is headed to Port Angeles for a workshop and a concert on Saturday.
“Jump-Start Your Stories,” Rutherford’s 2 p.m. workshop at a private home in Port Angeles, is sold out — but her concert Saturday evening still has room.
Rutherford’s performance, titled “Becoming Our Own Heroes: Stories of Unexpected Courage,” will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at another Port Angeles home.
Admission is $10 to the concert, which will go from real-life stories to tall tales, combining music, tales, poems and songs.
Both the workshop and the concert are presented by the Story People of Clallam County (www.ClallamStoryPeople.org). To reserve a seat at the concert, phone 360-808-9924.
Rutherford, who is based in Oregon, teaches and shares vintage stories, trickster tales and folklore.
She was a featured teller at the 2013 Forest Storytelling Festival in Port Angeles.
