WEEKEND: South Jefferson events to be capped by Quilcene lighting Saturday

QUILCENE — The Quilcene community Christmas tree will be lit Saturday after a host of activities.

Santa will arrive at the Christmas tree near the Quilcene Post Office, 294843 U.S. Highway 101, at 5 p.m.

Cookies and juice will be served. A song will kick off the season.

A drive-through of holiday decorations at the Quilcene Habitat Store, 294963 Highway 101, will be open.

The day will begin with a breakfast with Santa hosted by the Quilcene Lions Club from 9 a.m. to noon at the Masonic Lodge, 170 Herbert St.

Admission will be $7. Pancakes, potatoes, eggs and sausage will be served.

Proceeds will support Backpacks for Kids.

A Christmas crafts fair will offer crafts, good, gifts and photos with Santa at the Brinnon Booster Club, 151 Corey Lane, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Advent Adventures for children ages 4 to 12 is planned at Quilcene Presbyterian Church with stories, songs, crafts and games.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Center Valley Animal Rescue will host a holiday open house at the ranch, located at 11900 Center Road.

Featured will be guest artist Mena Quilici, Sophia of Limitless Henna and Catherine Hesrrick, who will offer chair massages.

Those who bring cameras can pose with Santa. (No pets, please.)

Treats, apple cider and coffee will be offered.

Themed baskets will be raffled. A silent auction will have items for sale.
