WEEKEND: Snappy Players Troupe asks, ‘Where’s Ward?’ this weekend in Sequim performances

NOTE: “Today” and “tonight” refer to Friday, June 10.

SEQUIM — The semi-improvisational Snappy Players Troupe reunites for its seventh year with two shows of “Where’s Ward?” this weekend.

Clallam Mosaic presents the show with an ensemble integrating the talents of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities with neurotypical community members.

Performances are at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Saturday at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Admission is a suggested donation of $20, with net proceeds benefiting educational, recreational and leisure classes/programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

A bake sale will be available before the show and at intermission.

“Where’s Ward?” continues the story of time travelers as they return to 1953 and “The KSNAP Radio Variety Show” where they learn about television and must settle into their newly enhanced lives with soap operas, commercials and stardom.

Familiar faces return: Dirk McGrier, played by Jess McNeil, and Jasper Greedypowers, played by Michael Rief.

Directors Anna Andersen and Bonne Smith say audience members who haven’t seen a production of the troupe before will be amazed by the semi-improvisational and capabilities of the actors.

“Many of the actors have limitations with verbal expression and literacy, yet they deliver a tremendous performance that truly showcases how they are more than their disability,” the directors said.

Actors include Garet Bonham, Carr Brackett, Ruthie Brandt, Bonny Cates, Fred Cnockaert, David William Dow, Kim Holbrook, Dezerea Hunter, Megan Jung, McNeil, Joy Morrill, Marjorie Mougel, Riley O’Neil, Rief, Sandy Roy, Doug Severe, Smith, Alicia Stuber, Blake Yacklin and Gabby the bird.

Olympic Theatre Arts donates the space for the acting troupe and its classes.
