WEEKEND: Shakespeare inspires original play at Peninsula College starting tonight

Tonight signifies Friday, May 16.

PORT ANGELES — Irreverent acting, singing and dancing are all part of “Killing the Bard: Shakespeare on the Lam,” a new play on stage tonight and Saturday at the Little Theater at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

In local playwright Shannon Cosgrove’s comedy, Manda Lavin is Kate the Shrew, Amy Meyer is Hamlet and Ron Graham is Henry V.

Lady Macbeth and an unapologetic Shakespeare also appear, while Naomi Alstrup provides the dance moves, Lauren Jeffries-Johnson does costumes and Nikki Adams plays Celia, the modern girl who could be the key to everything.

Curtain is at 7:30 this evening and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, with tapas on tap an hour before the show at the nearby Pirate Cove Cafe.

General admission is $20, while students with ID pay $10 for evening shows or $5 for the matinee.

Tickets are available at Odyssey Books, 114 W. Front St., BrownPaperTickets.com and at the door.
