Parkinson’s dance
PORT ANGELES — A dance class for people with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions will be open at the Sons of Norway Hall, 131 W. Fifth St., from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today.
Admission is a suggested $10 donation. Patients’ spouses and caregivers are invited to come free.
This class is for anyone who would enjoy 90 minutes of great music, interesting moves and positive people, noted coordinator Darlene Jones.
“Accommodations are made for folks with walkers or those who need to remain seated,” she added.
Pianist Linda Dowdell will provide live music.
The instructors now include Kayla Oakes of Port Angeles, who has recently completed Dance with Parkinson’s training.

Tsunami program
PORT ANGELES — A free program for those who want to become tsunami public education instructors will be offered from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.
The Tsunami Train-the-Trainer program will be presented in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.

The program provides an educational curriculum to train participants to become qualified tsunami public education instructors.

The eighth annual Outdoor Marine Swap Meet and Indoor Yard Sale is an opportunity to find or sell marine-related equipment or purchase some household items offered by the Yacht Club Ladies.

Upon request, boat safety inspections will be conducted by the North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron if attendees trailer their boat to the event. The squadron is empowered to affix a 2014 safety decal to compliant vessels.

Bike show gears up
PORT ANGELES — The seventh annual two-day Rock ’n’ Roll Bike Show will be held at Ancient Auto Works, 1921 U.S. Highway 101, on Saturday and Sunday.

Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m.

Father’s Day shoot
PORT ANGELES — The Wapiti Bowmen Archery Club, 374 Arnett Road, off Monroe Road, will offer a Father’s Day shoot Saturday and Sunday.
The club will be open to the public for this shoot.
Members have worked on trails on the 20-acre course. Lifelike targets of badgers, turkeys, bears and elk have been placed in the woods, across the ravines and up the banks.
Club volunteers will start cooking flapjacks and sausage at 7 a.m., and hamburgers will start at around noon.
Both meals are $5 each.
Adult shoot fees are $12 for one day or $20 for two.
Youngsters are welcome for a small fee.

PORT ANGELES — St. Andrew’s Place will sponsor a Father’s Day brunch buffet at the Masonic Lodge, 622 S. Lincoln St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Sea star survey
PORT ANGELES — Volunteers will survey sea stars at the Freshwater Bay County Park boat ramp, 300 Freshwater Bay Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Participants will collect data on sea stars to determine the prevalence of sea star wasting disease.
They should wear layers and boots that can get wet and muddy.
There is no cost to participate in the survey.

SEQUIM — Port Scandalous Roller Derby’s co-ed team will play against Kitsap County’s Skate Club at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., on Saturday.

Auditions for ‘Doctor’
SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts will conduct auditions for Neil Simon’s “The Good Doctor” at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Auditions, which also will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, will be at the theater at 414 N. Sequim Ave.
The play, the first production of the 2014-15 season, will be performed Sept. 5-21.
There are roles for three men and two women.
The play is Simon’s homage to Russian writer Anton Chekov. It comprises 11 one-act comedic and satirical sketches.
Nine are based on stories Chekov wrote to pay his way through medical school. Two are originals written in the style of Chekov by Simon.

SEQUIM — The Friends of Sequim Library will hold their monthly book sale at the Friends building behind the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Of special interest this month are more than 100 books about woodworking. There are books about tools and their use, and project designs for furniture, toys, cabinets and entire homes.

Dungeness Spit walk
SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Explorers will walk the Dungeness Spit on Saturday.
Sign-up is at the QFC store, 990 E. Washington St., at 8:45 a.m.
The group will leave for the Dungeness Spit at 9 a.m.
This walk is a 5K (3.1 miles), a 10K (6.2 miles) or a 20K (12.4 miles).
The walk is free unless participants want to have credit from the American Volkssport Association.
The route will take walkers by the bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca and out on the Dungeness Spit.
Restrooms are at sign-up and the parking area.
No pets are allowed on this walk.

BLYN — The Dungeness River Audubon Center is holding a River Center Romp on Saturday for those who would like to walk, bike, run or jog from Blyn to Railroad Bridge Park in Sequim.
The goal is to arrive at Railroad Bridge Park by 3 p.m. Saturday for root beer floats (using Bedford root beer) and hear how each of the River Center Rally teams did for the entire month of May, reaching the $30,000 goal.

Jubilee concerts
PORT TOWNSEND — Performances of Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor for chorus, soloists and orchestra, plus “Exsultate, jubilate” motet for orchestra and soprano soloist, will be performed today, Saturday and Sunday.
The performances, directed by Rebecca Rottsolk, are at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.
All performances are in the sanctuary of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1335 Blaine St., where the parish also is celebrating the completion of its newly remodeled vestibule.

Missing link in trail
PORT TOWNSEND — PT Trails volunteers will gather to establish a connector trail on the Sherman Street right of way between Hastings and 29th streets from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
This trail segment will establish a missing link in connectivity between the trails systems to the north in Cappys Woods and 35th Street Park, and the north-south trail corridor along Hancock and Sherman rights of way.
Anyone wishing to help should meet advisory board members at the intersection of Sherman and 29th streets.
The best parking is along 29th Street, one block north of Hastings, west of Hendricks Road.
Bring loppers, clippers, hand saws and work gloves, and dress for bushwhacking. Work will be done rain or shine.

Outdoor Club hike
PORT TOWNSEND — The Olympic Outdoor Club plans hikes Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, members will hike the tidelands of the Northeastern Quimper Peninsula from North Beach Park to Point Wilson and onward to Point Hudson.
On Sunday, they will hike the South Indian Island Trail, an easy hike of 4.0 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 50 feet and a high point of 50 feet.

Parasitic plant walk
PORT TOWNSEND — The Olympic chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society will sponsor a walk, “Parasitic Flowering Plants of Fort Townsend State Park,” at the park, 1370 Old Fort Townsend Road, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The walk is free and open to the public.
This will be a relaxed 2- to 3-mile walk.
Participants will search for specialized plants that have forgone the photosynthetic tradition of green plants and instead have adopted a parasitic existence by tapping into the roots of their neighbors.
Fort Townsend State Park is an epicenter for such plant species as it harbors more kinds than any other comparable-sized area in Washington, according to organizers.
The walk will be during a free day at the state park in honor of National Get Outdoors Day, so a Discover Pass is not needed.
