PORT ANGELES — Absolute beginners, seasoned dancers and all those in between are invited to a community contra dance at the Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Road, this Saturday night.
The Rosewind Country Dance Band from Port Townsend will provide the rhythms from 8 p.m. till 11 p.m., but first dance caller Marlin Prowell of Bellingham will offer a beginners’ workshop and refresher at 7:30 p.m.
Prowell is known for his easygoing style, which helps the feet know what to do before people have time to fret about it. So, he promises, even those who have never danced a step before will be swinging in short order.
Admission to Saturday’s dance is $8 for adults and $4 for teens and children 17 and younger.
