PORT ANGELES — Australian songstress Wendy Rule is on her way to Studio Bob, the downtown event space, for a concert and a music-meditation-ritual workshop this weekend.
Rule steps up first Saturday night to weave her music and mythology — with songs of love, loss, grief and joy — on the Alle Stage at Studio Bob, 1181/2 E. Front St. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the 8 p.m. show will open with a Gypsy and Celtic music set by Rogues’ End, the local band of Merryn Welch, Robert Downing, Preston Hughs, Kelly McMurdo and guest Natalie Wilson.
“I met Wendy and saw her perform a few years ago, when a promoter had asked me to perform the opening of the show,” said Welch, organizer of Rule’s appearances.
“I can tell you, one does not attend her show. One experiences it,” she said.
Tickets are $20 at Odyssey Books, 114 W. Front St., and all ages are welcome.
Rule and her husband, Timothy Van Diest, will give a “Magic of the Elements” workshop with song and spoken-word meditation, Native American music and ritual Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
The fee is $50 and registration is open through Saturday at Odyssey Books, 360-457-1045.
