SEQUIM — Two city sidewalk projects under construction in Sequim are expected to be completed by Friday.
C&J Excavating Inc. of Port Angeles is building a walkway to Sequim schools on the east side of Third Avenue from Fir Street to the alley between Alder and Spruce streets.
The $39,000 project is funded by the city Transportation Benefit District.
Also under construction is a paved walkway on the south side of Brackett Road leading to Walmart on Priest Road.
The Sequim Walmart donated $20,000 in November to construction of the walkway, which is to be 6 feet wide and 1,150 feet long.
Andy Nilles of the Brackett Road senior apartment complex, Vintage at Sequim, had pushed for the walkway, submitting a petition to the city with more than 100 signatures from residents of the complex asking for Brackett Road safety improvements and intersection safety improvements where it intersects with Priest Road.
