PORT ANGELES — The Ben and Myrtle Walkling Memorial Trust has announced the award of seven community grants totaling $21,234.
The trust was created by Myrtle Walkling in 1992 with an endowment of more than $1 million.
The trust uses its income to support charitable and civic projects in Clallam County that otherwise might not happen.
The grants for 2020 include:
• The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula: $2,000 to be used toward the capital campaign “Building Great Futures for Port Angeles Youth”.
• The Field Arts and Events Hall: $2,500 to be applied to the capital campaign to build the new performing arts and events center in Port Angeles.
• Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic: $3,500 to purchase two computers, clothing, bus passes and antibiotics.
• Port Angeles Food Bank: $4,000 to fund Friday food bags through the 10 weeks of the summer break.
• Rainforest Council for the Arts: $500 to purchase drop cloths and to bring the Old Time Chatauqua group to perform.
• Sequim Food Bank: $4,000 to help fund the Family Holiday Meal Program.
• Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County: $4,734 to purchase a multi-function digital copier system.
