The candidates for 24th District state representative — incumbent Jim Buck, Republican, and challenger Kevin Van De Wege, Democrat — are expected at the forums.
Also expected to attend are candidates for Clallam County sheriff — incumbent Joe Martin and challenger Soeren Poulsen.
The schedule:
* Thursday, Oct. 14, 2 p.m., Guy Cole Convention Center, Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave., Sequim, and
* Monday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m., Port Angeles City Hall council chambers, 321 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.
Also to be discussed: Initiative 892, the statewide measure sponsored by Tim Eyman that would authorize nontribal licensed gambling establishments to operate the same type and number of gambling machines as tribal governments, with tax proceeds earmarked for lowering the state property tax.
Proponents and opponents of I-892 will present their arguments, followed by questions from the audience.
