PORT ANGELES – About five dozen faculty and staff members cleaned up the vandalized and fire-scarred portions of Port Angeles High School on Sunday to prepare for classes today.
Scrubbing soot off the walls, peeling off charred tile and tossing destroyed computers into truck beds out the rain, the group worked to get the school back to a semblance of normalcy.
The group also repainted and sorted through materials that could be saved.
“We want to have it as normal as possible for the kids tomorrow,” said Lisa Joslin, who teaches business and computers, on Sunday.
“It is so sad and heart-wrenching. I’m shocked by that someone has so much anger to do something like this.
“This is like a second home to all of us – not just the staff, but the kids, too.”
