PORT ANGELES — Aimee Jacobs will move from a dream into a dream house Sunday. She”ll own the 1,150-square-foot home that Habitat for Humanity built from framing to finish carpentry this week at 1209 E. Campbell Ave.
One of 400 houses constructed in the Home Builders Blitz across the nation, the Port Angeles house is the product of more than 60 Clallam County companies and individuals who provided materials, labor and meals for the project.
Work began Monday.
The house will be dedicated at 1 p.m. Sunday, and the public is invited. Jacobs and her children Claira and Duncan will move in shortly afterward.
The Home Builders Blitz was Habitat for Humanity’s largest undertaking, erecting homes in 130 locations that will shelter more than 1,000 people — all with volunteer labor and donated materials and food.
Jim Taft, president of Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, said the house was framed Monday.
Rough electrical and plumbing, insulation and drywall, and exterior siding were added Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the walls were taped and textured, and the exterior was painted.
Painting continues Thursday and today, along with flooring and exterior trim work.
The kitchen will be installed today.
Landscaping and finish work will be done Saturday, Taft said.
