Victoria: Provincial leaders gather for annual conference

The leaders of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories are in Victoria to begin Canada’s 42nd annual Premiers Conference today.

The annual event is being held at the Victoria Conference Center this year.

The premiers were to attend a private dinner Wednesday night followed by meetings today and Friday.

Victoria police are in charge of security at conference site.

“I think this is a site with which we’ve had tremendous experience in the past,” said Inspector Bill Naughton of the Victoria Police Department. “Our experience is that it is generally an easy site to secure, and it’s an easy place for us to work in, so we were pleased with the choice of the venue. It works well for us.”
