The strong winds that have buffeted the North Olympic Peninsula overnight and into today should diminish this afternoon, the National Weather Service says.
Here is the Weather Service’s latest wind advisory:
STRONG WESTERLY FLOW WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING THROUGH THE
STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA AND ADMIRALTY INLET AREA. THIS STRONG
ONSHORE FLOW WILL PERSIST INTO THE AFTERNOON.
A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM PDT THIS EVENING.
* WINDS…SUSTAINED WESTERLY WINDS WILL RANGE FROM 25 TO 35 MPH
AT TIMES WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.
* TIMING…THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS THEN SLOWLY DIMINISHING LATER
THIS AFTERNOON.
* IMPACTS…SOME BRANCHES OR TREES MAY BREAK OR FALL WITH THESE
WIND SPEEDS. SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS
THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH
PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
