OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — U.S. Highway 101 at Milepost 228 east of Barnes Creek at Lake Crescent was reopened about 2 p.m. after a large boulder blocked the two-lane road earlier today.
A detour for westbound traffic had been created via state Highway 112, said Dianna Lahmann, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman.
“The boulder was quite large, and additional crews had to be called in to break it up,” Lahmann said.
The boulder, and other debris, fell because of wet conditions, she said.
