Masters student Frank Sartain has begun an internship in music therapy with OlyCAP’s Encore! Adult Day Care Center.

University student takes OlyCAP internship for music therapy

PORT ANGELES — Frank Sartain has joined OlyCAP’s Encore! Adult Day Care Center for a six-month music therapy internship.

Sartain, who has a degree in music composition, is working on a Master of Arts in music therapy at Loyola University in New Orleans.

He will work with Jim Couture at the center, learning how to use music to help older adults during a variety of creative, cognitive and physical experiences.

Sartain, whose undergraduate degree is in music composition, sings and plays piano, guitar, drums and trumpet.

In addition the memory wellness program for older adults, Sartain will also work with the Boys and Girls Club and the Sequim Community Orchestra.
