United Way of Clallam County board to elect, finalize officers at April 14 annual meeting

PORT ANGELES — The board of United Way of Clallam County will reaffirm the election of two officers and elect another during its annual meeting April 14.

The meeting will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the Port Angeles School District administration building at 216 E. Fourth St.

Members — individuals or businesses who have contributed to or volunteered for United of Clallam County during the past year — and other community members are invited.

Those who want to attend are asked to contact United Way at 360-457-3011 by Friday.

Because the president for 2014, Josh Fox, formerly of Platt Irwin Law Firm, left the area in December, the board elected that year’s vice president, Jo Johnston of Green Crow, to the president’s position in January.

It also elected Linty Hopie of Peninsula College as vice president.

During the annual meeting, the board is expected to reaffirm those elections and elect a treasurer.

Betsy Fulwider of Pierce Jones Associates has been nominated for the treasurer’s position.

Johnston will chair the meeting.

Board members include Paula Barnes, recently retired director of the North Olympic Library System; Rick Bart, Forks police administrator; Ron Cameron, Clallam County undersheriff; Don Corson, co-owner of Camaraderie Cellars; Cmdr. Andy Eriks of Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles; Gerald Gabbard, Port Angeles School District; Terry Gallagher, Port Angeles police chief; and Irv Schultz, Battelle/Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Trisha Haggerty of Peninsula College is leaving the board after six years. Don Bradley, past president and a consultant at Battelle, is leaving after seven years.

Nearly 150 people provided feedback about a new Hurricane Ridge Lodge project following the 2023 fire that destroyed the original structure. Nine easels were set up with questions and notes were provided for people to express their goals for a new lodge. The earliest construction can begin is in 2028, and it would take two to three years to complete, weather permitting. (Dave Logan/for Peninsula Daily News)
