PORT ANGELES — Ryan Dill and Jason Trammell of Peninsula College have been named to the 2014 All-Washington Academic Team.
The distinction is given to students for scholastic achievement and service to their communities and colleges.
They were honored in a special ceremony Thursday at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia.
The annual ceremony recognizes top scholars from community and technical colleges across the state.
Dill, 34, relocated from Kentucky to Washington in 2011.
Now in his second year of the nursing program at Peninsula College, he will graduate this spring and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing this fall as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice in the future.
Along with maintaining a 3.9 grade-point average, Dill has been active in community activities, helping to form the Hand Hygiene Project and Seconds of Safety Port Angeles, as well as participating in community education events on adult hypertension and exercise benefits for children.
Trammell, 35, returned to Peninsula College to earn an associate degree in business after the fall quarter of 2013 with a GPA of 3.83.
He now attends the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business and will pursue a career in business finance.
He was Associated Student Council president during the 2012-13 academic year and was president of Phi Beta Lambda, the college’s business club.
As members of the All-Washington Academic Team, both Dill and Trammell will receive a scholarship sponsored by KeyBank and will have the opportunity to receive other scholarship awards.
In addition, nearly every Washington state public and private four-year college offers scholarships to All-Washington team members.
