PORT ANGELES — The conditions of two Port Angeles women injured in a head-on wreck west of Port Angeles on Wednesday had been upgraded to satisfactory condition by Saturday afternoon.
Rachelle E. Grasso, 26, of Port Angeles had surgery Thursday and was in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday, according to Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg.
On Saturday, her condition had been upgraded to satisfactory, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Chandra M. Johnson, 23, was upgraded from stable to satisfactory condition at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles on Saturday.
The State Patrol said Grasso’s Toyota pickup truck crossed the centerline and collided with Johnson’s Nissan Altima on U.S. Highway 101 just east of Laird Road.
The highway was partially blocked for nearly five hours after the 10:18 a.m. wreck.
The State Patrol said drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
