Two people hurt in wreck on state Highway 20

PORT TOWNSEND — Two people were taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital after they were injured in a single-car wreck when a tree branch blew onto state Highway 20.

Veronica Heath, 72, and Charles King, 81, of Port Ludlow were transported to Jefferson Healthcare on Monday, the State Patrol said.

Jefferson Healthcare on Tuesday declined to release condition updates or to say if they were at the hospital.

Heath was driving east on Highway 20 just before 2:30 p.m. when a large tree branch fell onto the red Toyota Rave 4 she was driving, the State Patrol said.

Heath’s vehicle left the road and went through a ditch and into a fence before stopping near the intersection of Highway 20 and Fredrick Street a mile south of Port Townsend, according to the State Patrol.

Both Heath and King were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
