Two airlifted to hospital after crash on US 101 near Discovery Bay

DISCOVERY BAY — Two people were airlifted to a Seattle hospital after a collision on U.S. Highway 101 near Orcas Drive mid-afternoon Wednesday, the State Patrol said.

The conditions of Brennon M. Beebe, 25, of Devils Lake, N.D., and his passenger, Tristan K. Newman, 27, of Poulsbo, were not available from the Harborview Medical Center on Thursday.

The State Patrol gave this account in a memo:

Beebe was turning left from Orcas Drive onto southbound Highway 101 just before 3 p.m. Wednesday and pulled in front of Michael D. Thompson, 63, of Port Angeles, who was northbound in a truck pulling a trailer.

Thompson’s truck struck the left side of Beebe’s car, which came to rest in the southbound ditch of Highway 101.

Thompson was not hurt. He was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said. Troopers said they did not know if those in the car were wearing theirs, or if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The State Patrol cited Beebe for failure to yield.

Beebe’s car was destroyed, the State Patrol said, while the truck suffered reportable damage.
