PORT ANGELES — The local residents whose work will fill the 2015 edition of Tidepools, Peninsula College’s art, music and literary magazine, have been announced.
Volunteer judges — North Olympic Peninsula musicians, artists, teachers and writers — choose these winners for the magazine’s photography, poetry, short prose, fine art and music sections.
This spring’s Tidepools, produced by Peninsula College students with support from the Peninsula Daily News, is set for a June 12 release at bookstores in Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Sequim.
Here are the winners:
Adult prose
■ First place: “Peaceful Greens” by Hailey McLaughlin of Sequim.
■ Second place: “Flags of Our Neighbors” by Jon Eekhoff of Sequim.
■ Third place: “23 Things I Never Thought I’d Hear Myself Say at Age 48” by Alicia Demetropolis of Port Townsend.
Adult poetry
■ First: “Worm Bin” by Judith Duncan of Carlsborg.
■ Second: “Revelation” by John Mars of Port Angeles.
■ Third: “I Can Write With” by Georgina Clark of Port Angeles.
Adult photography
■ First: “Afternoon Fog” by Richard Kohler of Port Angeles.
■ Second: “Joy of Photography” by Alexander Hallett of Port Angeles.
■ Third: “Taking a Sun Break” by Ken Dry of Port Angeles.
Adult fine art
■ First: “Too Far North” by Amy Powell of Port Angeles.
■ Second: “Mellow Yellow” by Priscilla Patterson of Sequim.
■ Third: “Intuitive Awareness” by Janel Bolinger of Sequim.
Adult digital art
■ First: “Twelfth Man” by Cynthia Brooke of Sequim.
■ Second: “The Majestic One” by Lynn Schafer of Quilcene.
Music
■ First: “Clotho” by Hallett of Port Angeles.
■ Second: “Boomerang” by Howly Slim and Sandy Summers of Port Angeles.
■ Third (tied): “Midnight is Tomorrow” by Landon Groves and “Body Language” by John Rollston, both of Port Angeles.
Youth writing
■ Age 6-9: First place, “Fall” by Lilly Starr of Sequim.
■ Age 10-13: First place, “Tidepools” by Emily Glenn of Sequim.
■ Age 14-17: First place, “I Want to Fly” by Mitchell Hobbs of Port Angeles.
Youth art
■ Age 9 and younger: First place, “Lonely Cabin” by Minh Tue Hardin of Sequim.
■ Age 10-13: First place, “Through the Fence” by Raven Sharpe of Port Angeles.
■ Age 14-17: First place, “Sunrise at Wooden Boat Festival” by Rachel Marx of Port Townsend.
