FORKS — Three people were injured following a two-car collision on state Highway 113, the State Patrol reported.
Douglas Smith, 81, of Neah Bay was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse northbound on Highway 113 just south of milepost 1 about 5:55 p.m. Friday when he attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him and struck it in the southbound lane, according to the State Patrol.
Alice Smith, 76, of Neah Bay, a passenger in the Traverse, was transported to Forks Community Hospital.
Douglas Smith was not injured, the State Patrol said. He was cited for unsafe passing, the agency reported.
Jesse Hammond, 32, of Rathdrum, Idaho, was the driver of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was struck, according to the State Patrol. He was transported with injuries to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
Christina Hammond, 33, also of Rathdrum, Idaho, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She was not listed as a patient on Monday, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.
All four people were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the agency reported.
Both vehicles sustained reportable damage, the State Patrol said.
