GARDINER — Three people were injured Sunday morning after a pickup truck slid off U.S. Highway 101 at Gardiner Beach Road and another vehicle slid onto its side trying to avoid the pickup.
Treated and released from Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles were Andrew J. Goforth, 29, of Poulsbo, driver of the pickup; and Robert D. Ricketson, 34, and Robert A. Edgin, 27, both of Bremerton and both passengers in the truck, the State Patrol said.
Treated at the scene was Gary H. Black, 40, of Orting, driver of the second vehicle, a Shoreline Foodservice trailer.
According to the State Patrol, Goforth was driving east when he lost control on a patch of ice and rolled off the shoulder of the road.
About five minutes later, Black slowed down at the scene, but also lost control on the ice.
The accident occurred about 6:30 a.m. The highway was closed until almost 8 a.m. for fire and emergency crews.
Goforth’s 2003 Chevrolet pickup was destroyed, the State Patrol said.
Black’s trailer had $10,000 in damage.
