PORT ANGELES – A 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday morning in connection with the theft of tip jars from four drive-through espresso stands in Port Angeles and unincorporated Clallam County the day before.
And sheriff’s deputies expect to arrest a man later, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Nick Turner.
About $50 total was taken in the four thefts, he said.
According to 9-1-1 dispatch logs, the three thefts occurred within about an hour of each other Friday morning and stretched from the unincorporated area east of Port Angeles to the far western section of the city.
At 7:20 a.m. Friday, a tip jar was reported missing from the drive-through window at Higher Grounds East, 510 N. Oakridge Drive, apparently taken by a customer who drove off with it.
Another theft was reported at Round Up A Latte, 3231 E. U.S. Highway 101, about 10 minutes later.
About five minutes after that, The Daily Grind, 1919 E. First St. Suite A, reported its tip jar missing from the drive-through window.
Then Stir Crazy Espresso, 1921 W. U.S. Highway 101, reported its tip jar gone about a half-hour later on Friday morning.
