PORT TOWNSEND – An 18-year-old Port Townsend man facing an assault charge in the stabbing of another man has pleaded innocent in Jefferson County Superior Court.
Appearing in a bright orange jail jumpsuit on a television monitor broadcast from the Jefferson County jail in Port Hadlock, Kyle Joseph Cecil Hall, charged with first-degree assault in connection with the Dec. 29 stabbing, told the court Friday that he is not guilty.
Hall been in the jail since his arrest on the night of the stabbing. The maximum sentence for first-degree assault is life in prison.
Joseph Gaikowski, 21, of Port Townsend, was stabbed in the chest and was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to court records.
Hall also pleaded not guilty on Friday to three counts of possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana.
Hall was charged with the marijuana violation on Jan. 8, but those counts stem from police surveillance and use of an informant three times in September, according to court records.
