PORT ANGELES — Standing in her biology classroom, Jennifer Duncan-Taylor talked about the future of biology, her love for teaching and her students experiencing hands-on science.
Duncan-Taylor, 40, learned two weeks ago by letter that she was named the state’s Secondary Science Teacher of the Year by the Washington Science Teachers Association.
She was nominated by her colleagues for the award and will be recognized by the association in Yakima on Nov. 2.
“I really enjoy what I am doing,” Duncan-Taylor said.
“Teaching is a profession where we get to forever be a kid, but at the same time help kids make their transition into adulthood.”
