One of many tongue-in-cheek sayings on the North Olympic Peninsula is this one:
Summer begins on the Fifth of July.
Yep, it happened again this year.
By Tuesday, the Sixth of July, temperatures rose into the 70s in Port Townsend and Port Angeles, and crossed into the 80s in Sequim and Forks for the first time this year.
And it will stay that way into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
PDN photojournalists Chris Tucker and Jeff Chew took their cameras out into the community to chronicle some of the first scenes of summer — the real, post-July 5 summer.
Enjoy!
