Success breeds more issues for Sequim dog park

SEQUIM – The Sequim Dog Park Pals have three three-word phrases for you.

Pick up poop, watch your dog – and bend your knees.

When big dogs are hurtling at full speed across the 1.7-acre playground, they could knock you over if your knees are locked, warned Lynne Angeloro, a frequent user of the off-leash park and a member of its board of directors.

Since the park opened last spring, she’s put fliers about it at Sequim motels and at the Visitor Information Center on East Washington Street – and both locals and visitors are congregating on the lawn in Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.

“This is wonderful,” said Lynne Sharp of Sequim.

She and her husband Derrell bring their chocolate Labrador retriever puppy, Buddy, to the park daily.

“We’ve met so many people – from all over the world,” Derrell said.

The Sharps, however, hope for more come winter.
