Strict water measures invoked in area east of Port Angeles

Users in Clallam County Public Utility District’s Fairview Water District are now prohibited from watering their lawns or washing their cars.

Those are two stipulations of a Stage 3 alert issued by the PUD on Monday because Morse Creek, which is tapped for the Fairview area east of Port Angeles, has dropped below a flow of 25 cubic feet per second because of dry conditions in the Olympics.

Indoor conservation measures required under Stage 3 include fixing leaky faucets and toilets, taking shorter showers (and no baths), installing low-flow shower heads and faucets, only using full loads in dishwashers and clothes washers, and reusing of clean household water.
