PORT ANGELES — A section of the Olympic Discovery Trail east of the site of the former Rayonier pulp mill has been closed because of a large slide.
Between 75 cubic yard and 100 cubic yards of soil and debris covered the trail, also known in Port Angeles as the Waterfront Trail, near the 3-mile marker.
The Port Angeles city Parks Division has barricaded both sides of the slide area, and passage has been blocked, a statement from the city said this afternoon.
“The public is asked to stay clear of this area as other slides could occur due to the recent heavy rainfall,” the statement said.
