PORT ANGELES — Clallam County law enforcement officers have set their sights on a gun range proposed for the Sadie Creek area west of Joyce.
As designed by the Pacific Northwest Shooting Park Association, the facility would include a pistol range reserved for people who wear badges.
Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict said Tuesday that Port Angeles police, State Patrol troopers, National Park Service officers, Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees, members of the Coast Guard, and Border Patrol officers would welcome the range that also would allow them to practice with high-powered rifles.
Forks police probably would continue to use the West End Sportsmen’s Club in their city, and Jefferson County deputies and Port Townsend police would shoot at the Jefferson County Sportsmen’s Association range.
Jefferson Sheriff Mike Brasfield says the county pays the annual $50 membership for deputies at the club in Port Townsend.
