SEQUIM — Serve Washington presented its Washington State Volunteer Service Award to the Eastern Clallam County Community Emergency Response Team at a meeting of the Clallam County Fire District 3 board of commissioners.
The award, presented Tuesday, recognizes volunteer service by individuals, families and service groups in communities throughout Washington.
The emergency response team, which was formed in 2016, now has more than 550 members who are prepared to support the 40,000 residents of eastern Clallam County during emergencies.
The team was instrumental in the early COVID-19 vaccination efforts, demonstrating both leadership and collaboration with the city of Sequim, Fire District 3 and Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s health services.
Members of the emergency response team donated more than 22,000 hours of volunteer service during 2023.
