Sequim’s Olympic Theatre Arts announces its upcoming season

SEQUIM — A Neil Simon comedic tribute to Russian writer Anton Chekov.

Mary Chase’s play about a man with an invisible friend, “Harvey.”

An imaginary meeting between Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso.

These are a few of the offerings of the Olympic Theatre Arts’ 2014-15 season, which will begin in September.

Season tickets are on sale for five Main Stage productions and three Second Stage plays at the theater at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Second Stage productions at OTA are being announced and incorporated into the regular season for the first time this season.

“With Second Stage, Olympic Theatre Arts is working toward offering a wider range of theater experiences at reduced prices,” said Tom Darter, board member.

The names and directors for the eight productions were announced last Sunday at an invitational members-only event.

“Tom Darter and his play-selection committee worked hard to find plays and playwrights that would have name recognition for our local audiences and which would meet the needs of our theater,” said Heidi Hansen, board chairwoman.

“We think we have an exciting group of plays for this next season,” Hansen said.
