SEQUIM — City dignitaries officially kick off construction of the North Sequim Avenue streetscape today, but groundwork to ensure the project goes smoothly has been going on for several months.
The 9 a.m. ceremonial groundbreaking will take place at the intersection of Sequim Avenue and Cedar Street.
The $832,000 project will add landscaping and lighting to the area and includes moving underground Washington Street utilities to just south of Deytona Avenue, according to Sequim Public Works Director Jim Bay.
The project is scheduled to last 120 days, he said.
