SEQUIM — One of the North Olympic Peninsula’s religious schools is closing its doors at noon Friday because of low enrollment.
Sequim Christian Academy, formerly known as Sequim Bible Christian School, has three full-time staff members and 24 students.
The school’s students — ranging from second-grade to 12th-grade — will likely attend other religious or public schools or be home schooled, officials said.
“The No. 1 reason the school is closing is because of declining enrollment,” Pastor Rick Finitzer, who oversees the school, said. “It will be a great loss.”
The school officially opened in a section of Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave., in 1981, but the school had already been established, Finitzer said.
